Fableforge Weekly Update #10

In the 10th edition of the Fableforge Weekly Update we'll talk about some big improvements to recently implemented features: multiplayer compatible mob AI and mob procedural generation.

Multiplayer Compatible Mob AI

Multiplayer Compatible Mob Procedural Generation & Improvements

Multiplayer Compatible Mob AI

Multiplayer compatibility has now been implemented for mob AI. The only major thing left for this system would be to implement combat features.

Multiplayer Compatible Mob Procedural Generation & Improvements

The procedurally generated mob system is now multiplayer compatible. This meant handling all mob generation on the server and having all clients connected to that server share the same mob data.

Additionally, each region now actually generates and stores their own mobs. Now that this works for multiplayer and mobs are generated per region, the core of the mob procedural generation system is now pretty much done. The only features left to implement is procedurally generated stats, names, and drops. Those features will be implemented while working on the combat system.

Next Week Preview

Aside from needing a few more animations and additional testing, mobs are pretty much in a workable state. Next week I plan on creating more animations for the mobs, terrain generation improvements, and graphical improvements before moving on to the combat system.
