Fableforge Weekly Update #18

This week marks the completion of the core systems of combat! More improvements to combat were made, as well as some new particle effects!

Improved Combat

Fighting a zombie.

Some improvements, that were mainly under the hood, were made to combat. Making sure combat doesn't feel 'clunky' was a goal for these improvements. Synchronizing damage with an attack animation, decreasing 'wind up' times in animations, and giving a short window of time to click before an attack animation is finished to trigger another attack were some of the improvements.

With these improvements combat is pretty much done! There's still a few things that can be worked on, but it's a working feature now.

Particle Effects

Death particle effect.

Weapon trails, hit effect, death effect, and a step 'poof' particle effect was made this week. I'm still experimenting with these and tweaking them, so they may look different (or not even included) in the end. Let me know what you guys think!

Next Week Preview

That pretty much concludes the development of combat. Next week I'll be working on improving the mobs. Improving their look and animations are some things I have in mind. I'll also probably continue working with particle effects and experimenting with that. I also want to create my own font for the game, that's another thing I will probably do next week. If I have time I'll also do some terrain generation improvements.
